Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Riserva shows the classic depth and elegance of top-tier Brunello, with a concentrated ruby hue that hints at its structure and age-worthiness. The bouquet is layered and refined, offering ripe red berries, cherry, dried herbs, spice, and subtle oak from its extended time in French barriques. On the palate, it is full-bodied and persistent, with firm yet polished tannins, vibrant acidity, and a long, balanced finish. The wine’s combination of richness and freshness gives it excellent aging potential, and it will continue to develop complexity over many years in bottle.

Production
Poggio all’Oro lies south of Montalcino at around 250 meters above sea level, on gently rolling hillside terrain that provides ideal conditions for Sangiovese to ripen slowly and evenly. The fruit is carefully selected from this vineyard and vinified with a 12–14 day maceration in stainless steel tanks, with temperature control closely monitored throughout. After fermentation, the wine matures for 30 months in French oak barriques, followed by an additional 12–18 months of bottle aging before release. This long, meticulous production process is central to the wine’s depth, harmony, and structure.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for rich Tuscan dishes, such as bistecca alla fiorentina, braised short ribs, game, truffle pasta, or slow-cooked lamb. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least an hour before drinking to allow the wine to open fully and show its best aromatics and texture.
