The Balvenie DoubleWood 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky known for its distinctive two-cask maturation. It combines the soft, honeyed character of American oak with the rich, dried-fruit depth of Spanish oak sherry casks, creating a beautifully balanced and approachable dram.

Aroma & Palate
On the nose, it offers gentle honey, vanilla and soft oak, complemented by hints of dried fruit, orange peel and a touch of spice. The palate is smooth and rounded, with notes of toffee, warm cinnamon, nutmeg, sherry-soaked fruit and subtle nuttiness. Its finish is mellow and lingering, with lingering sweetness, oak spice and a delicate dryness.

Distillation & Maturation
Balvenie DoubleWood 12 is first matured in traditional American oak casks, which contribute vanilla, honey and soft oak notes. It is then transferred to Spanish oak oloroso sherry casks for a finishing period, adding layers of dried fruit, spice and depth. The whisky is bottled at 12 years of age.

Serving Suggestions
Enjoy it neat at room temperature to appreciate its layered character, or add a few drops of water to gently open the aromas. It can also be served over a large ice cube, although a lighter touch helps preserve its balance. Its honeyed and sherried profile pairs well with dark chocolate, roasted nuts, fruit-based desserts and mature hard cheeses.

Distillery
Balvenie is a Speyside distillery founded in 1892 near Dufftown, Scotland. The distillery is known for maintaining many traditional skills on site, including floor malting, copper smithing and cooperage. Balvenie DoubleWood was created by longtime malt master David C. Stewart, who helped pioneer the practice of finishing whisky in a second type of cask.
