Description
Bachelet-Ramonet Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot Rouge 2023 is a refined Bourgogne Pinot Noir from one of Chassagne-Montrachet’s most historic Premier Cru vineyards. It combines the depth and structure of Morgeot with the freshness and precision that have made Domaine Bachelet-Ramonet a trusted name in the village.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a deep, polished ruby hue in the glass. Aromatically, it opens with ripe red berries, cherry stone, floral accents, and a subtle spicy edge, all carried by a distinct mineral undercurrent that reflects the Morgeot terroir.
On the palate, it is generous yet balanced, with a full texture, firm but well-integrated tannins, and bright, precise acidity. The finish is long and layered, leaving impressions of red and darker fruit, stony minerality, and fine oak nuances. Enjoyable now for its energy and fruit, it should also develop greater complexity with a few years of cellaring.
Production
This Premier Cru comes from the Morgeot vineyard in Chassagne-Montrachet, a site known for its limestone-clay soils, southern exposure, and naturally generous microclimate. These conditions bring both power and finesse to Pinot Noir, with the terroir lending depth, structure, and a pronounced mineral signature. Harvesting and cellar work are handled with a restrained, traditional approach, allowing the site to speak clearly in the finished wine.
Food & Serving
An excellent match for roast duck, quail, mushroom dishes, veal, or poultry with herbs and pan sauces. It also pairs well with aged hard cheeses and earthy vegetarian dishes. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 15–17°C, and decanting for 30–60 minutes can help the wine open up, especially if enjoyed young.
Producer
Domaine Bachelet-Ramonet is a classic family estate in Chassagne-Montrachet, respected for its authentic, terroir-driven wines and especially for its Premier Cru bottlings. The domaine has built its reputation on small-scale production, careful vineyard work, and a precise winemaking style that emphasizes balance and regional character rather than overt extraction or heavy oak.
