Babylon’s Peak Busy Bee is an elegant Swartland red blend combining Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Viognier. It balances ripe dark fruit with floral nuances, gentle spice and polished tannins, offering a refined expression of South Africa’s warm, characterful Swartland region.

Tasting Notes
The wine has a deep, inviting colour. On the nose, aromas of ripe plums and blackcurrants mingle with warming spices and delicate floral notes. The palate is fruit-forward and harmonious, showing flavours of cherry, cassis and spice, supported by soft, well-integrated tannins. A subtle toasted character adds length to the smooth, lingering finish. Approachable in its youth, this 2023 vintage is ready to enjoy now and should develop gracefully over the next few years when stored in a cool, dark place.

Production
Sourced from the Swartland in South Africa, this blend of Shiraz, Mourvèdre and Viognier undergoes cold maceration before fermentation over five to seven days. The wine is then matured in French oak barrels prior to bottling, contributing gentle toasted notes and additional refinement to the ripe fruit profile.

Food & Serving
Serve slightly cool, at around 16–18°C. It is a versatile partner for roast or grilled lamb, herb-seasoned chicken and richly flavoured mushroom dishes. Decanting is not essential, though 20–30 minutes in a decanter can help open the wine and soften its already smooth structure.
