Description
A polished Barbera d’Alba Superiore from Azienda Agricola Paolo Saracco, the “Per Sbaglio” 2023 combines vibrant red-fruit character with the added depth of oak maturation. A classic expression of Piedmont’s Barbera grape, it offers an inviting balance between freshness, structure and a long finish.
Tasting Notes
The wine shows a bright ruby-red colour. On the nose, it reveals classic red-fruit aromas alongside the richer scent of ripe raspberries. The palate is dry and well balanced, with generous fruit, subtle oak influence and a persistent finish.
Its 12–14 months of maturation in both small and large oak barrels give the wine additional complexity while preserving its lively fruit profile. It is enjoyable now, but should develop further over the next few years with careful cellaring.
Production
Produced under the Barbera d’Alba appellation in Piedmont, this wine is made from Barbera grapes. Fermentation takes place traditionally in stainless-steel tanks, followed by 12–14 months of maturation in a combination of small and large oak barrels. The wine then rests for a further six months in bottle before release, allowing its flavours to integrate.
Food & Serving
A versatile partner for rich pasta dishes, roasted or grilled red meat, game and mature cheeses. Serve at approximately 16–18°C. Decanting is not essential, but a short decant of 30–45 minutes can help open the wine and soften its youthful character.
