Azienda Agricola Cornarea, Roero Arneis 2025 White

Azienda Agricola Cornarea’s Roero Arneis is a fresh, characterful white from the heart of Piedmont’s Roero hills. Made from the region’s signature Arneis grape, it reflects the Cornarea family’s important role in reviving a variety that was close to disappearing locally in the 1970s.

Tasting Notes
Pale and bright in appearance, this Arneis opens with soft, expressive aromas of white flowers, pear, pineapple and passion fruit. The same fruit-led character carries through to the palate, where a full, creamy and harmonious texture is balanced by a lively, refreshing finish. A generous yet elegant white, it is especially appealing for its youthful freshness and aromatic clarity. It is best enjoyed young, while its floral and tropical fruit notes are at their most vibrant, although careful short-term cellaring can add further roundness.

Production
Cornarea is located in Canale, surrounded by the rolling hills of Roero, with 15 hectares planted to Arneis and Nebbiolo. The estate’s Arneis vines were planted by Piero and Francesca in the mid-1970s as part of their efforts to preserve this nearly forgotten local variety. The grapes are fermented in stainless steel at controlled temperatures, followed by ageing on the lees (sur lie), which helps give the wine its creamy texture and depth while preserving its freshness.

Food & Serving
An excellent aperitif, this Roero Arneis is also well suited to both warm and cold starters, seafood and shellfish, light meats, seasonal cheeses, risotto, and pasta with pesto or mushrooms. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary; simply open shortly before serving to allow its floral and fruit aromas to develop.

Azienda Agricola Cornarea is a family-run estate in Canale, at the centre of the Roero wine region. Piero and Francesca established the estate’s Arneis vineyards in the 1970s, helping bring renewed attention to a native grape that was then close to extinction in the area. Today, their sons Gian Nicola and Pierfranco work alongside them to preserve Cornarea’s traditions and pursue consistently high-quality wines that express Roero’s distinctive identity.
