Azienda Agricola Cornarea, Roero Arneis 2024 White

A distinctive Roero Arneis from Azienda Agricola Cornarea, crafted from a local Piedmontese grape that was brought back from the brink of extinction in the Roero during the 1970s. The 2024 vintage combines generous tropical fruit, creamy texture and lively freshness, offering an elegant expression of the hills surrounding Canale.

Tasting Notes
Bright and inviting in the glass, this Arneis opens with soft aromas of white flowers, ripe pear, pineapple and passion fruit. The same fruit character carries through to the palate, where a full-bodied, creamy attack is balanced by harmonious freshness. Its finish is rich, long and particularly refreshing. The wine is most expressive in its youth, when its floral and fruit-driven character is at its most vibrant, but the sur lie maturation gives it enough structure to develop gracefully over the next few years. Decanting is generally unnecessary.

Production
The vineyards are located in the heart of Roero, around the Cornarea estate in Canale, where the rolling hills provide the setting for the estate’s 15 hectares of Arneis and Nebbiolo. The grapes are carefully harvested at optimum ripeness before undergoing alcoholic fermentation at controlled temperatures. The wine is then matured on its lees, adding creaminess, texture and depth while preserving its fresh, aromatic profile.

Food & Serving
An excellent aperitif, this versatile Arneis is also well suited to both hot and cold starters, seafood and shellfish, light meats and seasonal cheeses. Its creamy texture and refreshing finish work particularly well with risotto, pasta with pesto and mushroom-based dishes. Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C; decanting is not required.

Azienda Agricola Cornarea is situated in Canale, surrounded by the hills of Roero. In the mid-1970s, founders Piero and Francesca planted Arneis, a traditional local variety that had almost disappeared from the area, achieving remarkable results and helping restore the grape to prominence in Roero. Today, they work alongside their sons, Gian Nicola and Pierfranco, continuing the estate’s commitment to preserving local traditions and producing high-quality wines.
