Tasting Notes
The wine displays an intense ruby-red colour with attractive purple highlights. Its nose is fruit-driven, offering aromas of black fruits alongside subtle hints of green pepper that add freshness and complexity. On the palate, it is intense yet harmonious, with generous fruit, an elegant structure and lively tannins that bring energy to the finish. Its freshness makes it particularly enjoyable in its youth, while the firm tannic backbone allows it to develop additional savoury nuance over the short to medium term when carefully stored.

Production
The vineyards benefit from Friuli’s distinctive microclimate near the borders of Austria and Slovenia. The Julian Alps shield the vines from cold northern winds, while breezes from the Adriatic Sea help to moderate temperatures. The grapes are gently destemmed before crushing, then fermented on their skins at a controlled temperature, with regular pump-overs to extract colour, aroma and flavour. The wine is matured in stainless-steel tanks to preserve its vibrant fruit and varietal character.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for hearty dishes, this Refosco works especially well with game, stuffed quail and skewered meats. Its lively tannins and dark-fruit profile also suit grilled or roasted red meat. Serve lightly cool, around 16–18°C. Decanting is not essential, although a brief 20–30 minute airing can help open the wine and soften its youthful tannins.

Altùris was founded by brothers Marco and Massimo Zorzettig, heirs to a historic family that has represented sound, long-term entrepreneurship in the wine world for three generations. The winery takes its name from the beautiful hills of Friuli, known as “Altùris” in the family’s native language, and is dedicated to producing distinctive wines that express the aromas and character of the region’s native grapes. Its location and focus on Friulian identity make it a notable representative of the area’s modern wine culture.
