Description
A refined and expressive Pinot Grigio from Friuli, combining generous fruit with notable freshness and elegance. Produced by Azienda Agricola Altùris in northeastern Italy, this wine reflects the region’s distinctive Alpine and Adriatic influences and the Zorzettig family’s long-standing dedication to Friulian wines.
Tasting Notes
The wine presents a bright, delicate appearance. Its broad and complex bouquet reveals tropical fruit and citrus alongside subtler notes of hay, bread crust and toasted almonds—aromas characteristic of the variety. On the palate, it is intense, full-bodied and fruit-driven, with a pleasing balance and an elegant, polished finish.
The 2025 vintage is best enjoyed for its youthful freshness and expressive aromas. While Pinot Grigio is generally intended for early drinking, its full texture and lees ageing give it the structure to develop additional savoury complexity over the short term when carefully stored.
Production
Altùris’ vineyards benefit from a unique microclimate in Friuli, close to Venice and the borders of Austria and Slovenia. The Julian Alps shelter the vines from cold northerly winds, while breezes from the Adriatic Sea moderate temperatures and support slow, balanced ripening. Fermentation and maturation take place on the lees in temperature-controlled, glass-lined concrete tanks, helping to preserve the wine’s freshness while adding texture and depth.
Food & Serving
A versatile partner for fish dishes, pasta and creamy vegetable preparations, it also works well with boiled fish and cold cuts of light meat. Serve chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Decanting is not necessary; opening the bottle shortly before serving allows its layered aromas to unfold.
Producer
Azienda Agricola Altùris was founded by brothers Marco and Massimo Zorzettig, heirs to a historic family that has represented sound entrepreneurship in the wine world for three generations. The name Altùris comes from the local term for Friuli’s beautiful hills, and the estate is dedicated to producing distinctive wines that express the aromas and character of the region’s grapes. Its combination of Friulian terroir and careful lees ageing has made it a notable producer in northeastern Italy.
