Artadi Vinas de Gain 2019

Artadi Viñas de Gain 2019 is a refined Rioja red that captures the cooler, more mineral side of Rioja Alavesa. Made entirely from Tempranillo grown in Artadi’s own vineyards, it combines purity, elegance, and depth in a style that has made the estate one of the most respected names in modern Spanish wine.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby color with excellent concentration. The nose is layered and expressive, offering ripe red berries, plums, dried herbs, cedar, and a subtle spicy note from oak aging. On the palate, it is full-bodied yet beautifully balanced, with silky tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, graceful finish marked by mineral and spice nuances. While already enjoyable now, it has the structure and harmony to develop further over the next several years.

Production
Viñas de Gain comes from Artadi’s estate vineyards in Rioja Alavesa, at elevations of around 450 to 600 meters. The combination of limestone-rich soils and the cooling Atlantic influence helps preserve freshness and aromatic complexity in the Tempranillo grapes. The fruit is harvested by hand, carefully selected, and vinified with a gentle approach before maturing for about 12 months in French oak barrels, some of them new, to add structure and subtle spice.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent match for grilled lamb, game, smoked cheeses, and hearty stews. Serve it at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 30 to 60 minutes if drinking it young to allow the aromas and texture to खुलly unfold.
