Tasting Notes
In the glass, this vintage shows a bright, transparent ruby hue. The nose opens with juicy cherry, ripe strawberry, and red citrus, layered with spice, a gentle floral perfume, and a subtle earthy edge. The palate is lively and elegant, with fresh acidity, silken texture, and a mineral-driven finish that keeps the wine focused and energetic. Rather than power, it delivers finesse and detail, making it an unusually graceful expression of Zinfandel. It should drink beautifully now and continue to evolve over the next few years, gaining more savory complexity.

Production
Kirschenmann Vineyard sits in Lodi near the Mokelumne River, where century-old Zinfandel vines grow in sandy, granite-tinged soils influenced by Sierra Nevada sediment. The vineyard is dry-farmed and planted alongside small amounts of Carignane, Cinsault, and Mondeuse Noir, contributing to its old-school field-blend character. Arnot-Roberts works with a minimalist approach here, using whole-cluster fermentation, native yeast, and aging in neutral barrels to preserve freshness, texture, and vineyard character.

Food & Serving
This Zinfandel pairs especially well with roast pork, grilled lamb, duck, or herb-roasted chicken, as well as earthy dishes like mushroom risotto or lentils with Mediterranean herbs. Serve slightly cool, around 15–17°C, to keep the wine’s lift and balance intact. Decanting is optional, but a short decant can help the aromatics open up if enjoyed young.
