Arnaldo Rivera Undicicomuni Barolo 2021 is an elegant, layered expression of one of Italy’s most celebrated appellations. Made from 100% Nebbiolo sourced from carefully selected vineyards across Barolo’s eleven municipalities, it brings together power, structure and aromatic refinement in a single wine. The name “Undicicomuni” refers to the eleven communes that make up the Barolo appellation, highlighting the wine’s broad regional character.

Tasting Notes
The wine displays a deep ruby colour with the garnet nuances typical of Nebbiolo. Its intense and complex nose opens with ripe cherries, plums and raspberries, followed by distinctive aromas of rose petals and violets. With aeration, notes of white pepper, liquorice, tobacco and leather emerge, adding further depth. On the palate, it is full-bodied and well structured, combining ripe red fruit with vibrant acidity and refined, persistent tannins. Flavours of cherry, plum and raspberry are complemented by spice, tobacco and a subtle earthy character. The finish is long, powerful and polished, with lingering fruit, spice, leather and tobacco. Already complex and expressive, the 2021 has the freshness and tannic structure to develop beautifully over many years in bottle.

Production
The wine is made from Nebbiolo grapes sourced from well-positioned vineyards across the eleven communes of the Barolo appellation, reflecting the diversity of the region’s terroirs. Fermentation and maceration take place for approximately three weeks in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. This is followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation in wood, around two years of maturation in large wooden casks, and further refinement in concrete tanks.

Food & Serving
A natural partner for rich, slow-cooked dishes, this Barolo is excellent with braised beef, brasato, game and lamb. It also pairs beautifully with mushroom or truffle risotto and mature hard cheeses. Serve at approximately 18°C, preferably after allowing the bottle to breathe. Decanting for one to two hours is recommended when enjoying the wine young, both to open its aromas and to soften its structured tannins.
