Description

Domaine Armand Rousseau’s Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Cazetiers 2009 is a benchmark Pinot Noir from one of the most respected Premier Cru sites in Gevrey-Chambertin. It combines the domaine’s signature finesse with the power and depth of Les Cazetiers, while the warm 2009 vintage lends an extra layer of ripeness and generosity.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine shows a deep, polished ruby color. The bouquet opens with dark cherry, ripe raspberry, and blackberry, followed by layers of spice, liquorice, cedar, and a distinct earthy-mineral character that speaks clearly of its terroir. The palate is rich and supple, with silky texture, finely integrated tannins, and vibrant acidity that keeps the wine balanced and lifted. Its long, persistent finish reveals savory spice and mineral nuances. Enjoyable now for its ripe fruit and elegance, it also has the structure to age gracefully for another 10 to 15 years, gaining further complexity over time.

Production
Les Cazetiers is a steep, well-exposed Premier Cru vineyard in Gevrey-Chambertin, known for producing Pinot Noir with structure, depth, and a strong sense of place. The 2009 vintage, marked by warmer conditions in Burgundy, allowed the grapes to reach full maturity and yield a wine of impressive concentration and richness. Vinification at Domaine Armand Rousseau is traditionally meticulous, emphasizing precision, balance, and transparency of terroir.

Food & Serving
This is a superb match for refined dishes such as roast duck, poussin, veal tenderloin, game birds, or mushroom-based preparations. It also pairs beautifully with truffle dishes and aged hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant gently for 30–60 minutes if opening young or if you want to let the aromatics fully unfold.

Producer
Domaine Armand Rousseau is one of Burgundy’s most legendary domaines, with a reputation built on producing some of the region’s most sought-after Pinot Noir wines. Based in Gevrey-Chambertin, the estate is celebrated for its elegant, terroir-driven style and has long been a reference point for top-class Côte de Nuits wine. Its wines are highly regarded by collectors worldwide for their purity, balance, and aging potential.
