Argiano Brunello Riserva 1988 is a classic Tuscan Brunello made from 100% Sangiovese, showing the depth and structure that have made Brunello di Montalcino one of Italy’s most respected red wines. Crafted in a standout vintage and released only after extended maturation, it combines concentration, elegance, and a strong sense of place.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a mature ruby-red colour with the graceful evolution you’d expect from an aged Brunello. The nose opens with intense aromas of ripe red fruit, warming spices, and a subtle touch of vanilla, creating a layered and inviting bouquet. On the palate, it is full-bodied and complex, with refined fruit, firm but well-integrated tannins, and excellent balance throughout. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, and while it is already beautifully developed, it can still hold up for additional years of cellaring for those who enjoy fully mature Sangiovese.

Production
The grapes come from Toscana, where Argiano benefits from the region’s warm days, cool nights, and well-drained soils that are ideal for Sangiovese. The 1988 harvest was followed by 36 months in oak barrels and a further 24 months in bottle before release, giving the wine its depth, polish, and classic Brunello structure.

Food & Serving
This is an ideal match for rich, flavourful dishes such as roast beef, lamb, game, braised meats, and aged cheeses. Serve at around 18°C, and decanting is recommended if the wine still shows youthful structure or sediment from long ageing.
