Description

Angélus 2010 in magnum is a standout Saint-Émilion, combining the finesse of one of Bordeaux’s most prestigious estates with the added aging advantages of the large-format bottle. As a Premier Grand Cru Classé A, it represents the top tier of the appellation, prized for its depth, precision, and long-term cellar potential. The 2010 vintage is especially celebrated in Bordeaux for its concentration, balance, and remarkable structure.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, this deep garnet-red wine shows impressive intensity and clarity, with the kind of concentration expected from a great Saint-Émilion. The bouquet is typically layered and expressive, offering dark berries, black cherry, plum, cedar, cocoa, and subtle spice, often complemented by floral and mineral notes. On the palate, it is full-bodied and powerful yet polished, with ripe tannins, fresh acidity, and a long, harmonious finish that develops beautifully with age. The magnum format helps the wine evolve more slowly and gracefully, making it especially attractive for collectors. While it can certainly be enjoyed now with proper aeration, it has the structure and pedigree to continue aging for many years, gradually revealing more complexity, softness, and secondary nuances over time.

Production
Angélus is located on the slopes of Saint-Émilion, where clay-limestone and gravelly soils help give the wines both richness and freshness. The estate’s best parcels benefit from excellent sun exposure and natural drainage, allowing the grapes to reach full ripeness while retaining balance. Harvesting is carried out with careful selection, and vinification is designed to preserve purity, concentration, and the estate’s signature elegance.

Food & Serving
This wine pairs beautifully with refined dishes such as roast lamb, beef tenderloin, duck breast, truffle risotto, or game birds. It also works well with aged hard cheeses and rich mushroom-based preparations. Serve at around 16–18°C, and if opening now, decant for at least 1–2 hours to allow the aromas and structure to open up fully.

Producer
Château Angélus is one of the most iconic names in Saint-Émilion, with a long family history and a reputation built on consistency, ambition, and exceptional terroir. The estate is recognized as one of the elite producers of the appellation and has earned international acclaim for wines that combine power, elegance, and age-worthiness. Its status as a Premier Grand Cru Classé A underlines its importance in Bordeaux and its place among the region’s finest estates.
