Tasting Notes
In the glass, it typically shows a deep, saturated ruby-purple colour. The nose is refined and expressive, with layers of ripe black cherry, blackberry, plum, violet, graphite, mocha, and subtle spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied, velvety, and concentrated, with polished tannins and impressive freshness that keeps the richness in balance. The Merlot brings depth and texture, while the Cabernet Franc adds definition, floral nuance, and a long, precise finish. It has excellent aging potential and should continue to develop complexity over the coming decades.

Production
Angélus comes from carefully selected vineyards on the right bank of Bordeaux, where limestone and clay soils help preserve freshness while supporting the natural concentration of the fruit. The estate’s blend is dominated by Merlot, complemented by Cabernet Franc, with harvesting carried out by hand to ensure only the best grapes are brought in. Vinification is typically focused on precision and parcel selection, allowing each plot to be handled separately before blending to highlight the wine’s elegance, power, and site expression.

Food & Serving
This is a wine that deserves equally thoughtful food pairings, such as roasted lamb, beef fillet, duck breast, game birds, or slow-braised dishes with earthy mushrooms. It also works beautifully with mature hard cheeses. Serve at around 16–18°C, and decant for at least 1–2 hours if drinking young to allow the wine to open fully.
