Angelo Negro Barbaresco Basarin 2022

Angelo Negro Barbaresco Basarin 2022 is an elegant expression of Nebbiolo from one of Piedmont’s most respected Barbaresco crus. Produced by the historic Negro family, it combines the grape’s classic structure with a refined, approachable style and the distinctive character of the Basarin vineyard.

Tasting Notes
Bright ruby red in colour, with the beginnings of the garnet hues associated with Nebbiolo. The nose is precise and lifted, revealing red berries, delicate citrus notes and aromatic spices. On the palate, it is beautifully balanced, with fine structure and polished tannins rather than excessive austerity. A soft, spicy and subtly minty finish adds freshness and length. This Barbaresco can be enjoyed now with a little air, while further bottle ageing over the next 6–10 years should bring greater complexity and integration.

Production
Made exclusively from Nebbiolo in the Barbaresco DOCG appellation of Piedmont, the wine reflects the region’s celebrated combination of calcareous soils, hillside vineyards and a cool continental climate. The Basarin cru is known for producing Nebbiolo with both aromatic finesse and age-worthy structure. The wine is crafted in the traditional Piedmontese style, allowing the grape’s natural perfume, elegance and tannic character to remain at the centre of the finished wine.

Food & Serving
Serve at approximately 16–18°C. It is an excellent match for truffle dishes, tajarin pasta, porcini mushrooms, risotto, braised beef and other richly flavoured Piedmontese specialities. Decanting is not essential for a mature bottle, but a young vintage such as 2022 will benefit from 30–60 minutes in a decanter or a generous swirl in the glass.
