Description
Allegrini Valpolicella Classico Superiore Grola 2022 is a refined interpretation of Valpolicella from one of the region’s most respected estates. Crafted primarily from Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella, it captures the depth and perfume that have made Valpolicella a favorite among lovers of elegant Italian reds. This bottling stands out for its combination of ripe fruit, polished structure and a clear sense of place rooted in the hills of the Classico zone.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Grola 2022 shows a vibrant, deep ruby red color with youthful purple highlights at the rim. The nose opens with vivid aromas of ripe cherries and blackberries, followed by notes of violet, dried herbs, sweet spice and a subtle hint of cocoa.
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied with a silky texture and finely woven tannins. Juicy red and black fruits are layered with flavors of licorice, black pepper and a touch of balsamic, giving both freshness and complexity. A lively acidity keeps the wine bright and food-friendly, while the finish is long, savory and slightly mineral. Enjoyable now for its energy and purity, it also has the structure to evolve gracefully over the next 5–8 years, gaining further complexity and softness with time in bottle.
Production
The grapes for Allegrini’s Valpolicella Classico Superiore Grola 2022 come from hillside vineyards in the heart of the Valpolicella Classico area in Veneto, where calcareous and gravelly soils help deliver wines with finesse, aromatic lift and a clear mineral backbone. The fruit is harvested by hand to ensure only healthy, optimally ripe bunches are selected. In the cellar, the grapes are gently destemmed and fermented in temperature-controlled stainless steel to preserve freshness and varietal character, with careful maceration to extract color, aroma and fine tannins. The wine is then matured, often partly in oak, to round out the texture, integrate the tannins and add subtle spice without overshadowing the wine’s bright fruit and regional identity.
Food & Serving
This Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a versatile partner at the table, pairing beautifully with dishes such as roasted poultry, grilled lamb chops, pasta with ragù, charcuterie, mushroom risotto and semi-aged cheeses. For ideal enjoyment, serve at 16–18°C (60–64°F). A brief decant of about 30 minutes can help the aromas open up and soften the tannins, especially in its younger years, revealing greater complexity and elegance in the glass.

Allegrini is one of the leading and most influential producers in Valpolicella, with a family history in the region that stretches back for generations.
