Description
Allegrini Palazzo della Torre is a distinctive Veneto red that combines tradition with a carefully crafted modern approach. Made from Corvina, Corvinone, and Rondinella, it stands out for its layered character and the subtle richness created by the estate’s signature re-fermentation method. Rooted in the historic Valpolicella area, this wine reflects one of Italy’s most respected red-wine traditions.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, Palazzo della Torre shows a deep ruby-red color with inviting brightness. The nose is expressive and elegant, with ripe red fruit at the forefront, complemented by hints of spice and the gentle warmth of oak from ageing in French barriques.
On the palate, it is smooth, balanced, and full of character, with cherry, plum, and berry notes supported by fresh acidity and fine structure. The dried-grape component adds extra depth and length, giving the wine a rounded, persistent finish. It has good ageing potential and can develop further complexity over the next few years.
Production
Palazzo della Torre comes from the hilly vineyards of Valpolicella in Veneto, where a temperate climate and calcareous soils create excellent conditions for quality red grapes. The vineyards benefit from the protection of the Lessini Mountains and are cultivated in an area with a long winemaking history dating back to ancient times.
The wine is produced using Allegrini’s distinctive re-fermentation technique, with two vinifications: one from partially dried grapes and a second from freshly harvested grapes. After blending, the wine undergoes a second fermentation and is aged for 15 months in French oak barriques, followed by a further 7 months of bottle ageing.
Food & Serving
This is a versatile red that pairs beautifully with roasted meats, grilled lamb, pasta with rich ragù, game, and aged cheeses. Serve it at around 16–18°C to best appreciate its fruit, structure, and aromatic detail. Decanting for 30 minutes can help open up the wine, especially if enjoyed soon after release.
Producer
Allegrini is one of the leading names in Veneto winemaking, with deep roots in Valpolicella and a strong reputation for quality and innovation. The family estate has helped shape the region’s modern identity while staying closely connected to its traditions. Today, Allegrini is widely recognized for producing some of Valpolicella’s most respected wines, including Palazzo della Torre.
