Description
Albert Bichot Latricières-Chambertin Grand Cru 2021 is a refined expression of one of Burgundy’s most prestigious sites, where Pinot Noir combines depth, precision, and finesse. From the celebrated Côte de Nuits, this Grand Cru reflects both the elegance of the vintage and the pedigree of a vineyard long admired for producing wines of impressive stature and age-worthiness.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep ruby colour that hints at concentration and ripeness. The nose is layered and inviting, opening with red and black berries such as raspberry and blackcurrant, then unfolding into floral notes of rose before revealing more complex aromas of spice, forest floor, and leather with time in the glass.
On the palate, the wine is structured and powerful, yet smooth and silky, balancing fruit, acidity, and tannin with remarkable precision. The finish is long and persuasive, and the wine has excellent ageing potential, developing beautifully over the next 5 to 15 years.
Production
Sourced from the Grand Cru vineyard Latricières-Chambertin in Côte de Nuits near Gevrey-Chambertin, the wine comes from a terroir known for producing intensely expressive Pinot Noir with both elegance and backbone. The grapes are hand-harvested and carefully sorted before fermentation in temperature-controlled wooden vats for 18 to 21 days. The wine is then aged for 16 to 18 months in oak barrels, with 40 to 50 percent new oak used to add structure, complexity, and subtle spice.
Food & Serving
This is an ideal wine for refined dishes such as roasted duck, game birds, beef fillet, truffle risotto, or mushroom-based cuisine. Serve at around 16-18°C, and consider decanting for about 1 to 2 hours if drinking young to allow the aromas and structure to open fully.
