Description

Alain Jeanniard Chambolle-Musigny 2023 is a refined red Burgundy that captures the perfume and finesse for which this village is famous. Sourced from carefully tended parcels in Chambolle-Musigny, this wine offers a pure, graceful expression of Pinot Noir in a youthful, vibrant vintage. It stands out for its elegance and fine-boned structure, making it an excellent choice for Burgundy lovers seeking both immediate charm and cellar potential.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the 2023 Alain Jeanniard Chambolle-Musigny shows a luminous, translucent ruby color with a brilliant rim. The nose is delicately expressive, offering red cherry, wild strawberry and raspberry layered with rose petals, subtle spice, and a light touch of chalky minerality. On the palate, it is silky and poised, with fine, powdery tannins and a graceful medium body. Flavors of fresh red berries, cranberry and pomegranate are intertwined with notes of violets, sweet baking spice and a hint of forest floor that promises further complexity with time. The finish is long and lifted, carried by fresh acidity and a gentle mineral backbone. While already approachable in its youth for those who enjoy vibrant, primary fruit, this 2023 vintage has the structure to evolve beautifully over the next 6–10 years, gaining depth and savory nuance.

Production
This Chambolle-Musigny is crafted from Pinot Noir vines rooted in the classic limestone and clay soils of the Côte de Nuits, which lend the wine its hallmark finesse and minerality. The grapes are typically hand-harvested at optimal ripeness, with careful sorting in the vineyard and at the winery to ensure only the best fruit is used. Vinification is traditional Burgundy in style: gentle extraction to preserve elegance over power, fermentation in small vats, and élevage in French oak barrels—often with a judicious proportion of new oak—to add texture and complexity without overshadowing the purity of the fruit or the character of the terroir.

Food & Serving
Alain Jeanniard Chambolle-Musigny 2023 is an excellent partner for refined, subtly flavored dishes that echo its elegance. Think roast chicken with herbs, veal tenderloin, duck breast, or pork loin with mushroom jus; it also shines alongside more delicate game birds, truffle dishes, and earthy mushroom risottos or mild, creamy cheeses like Brie, Reblochon or a soft-rind goat cheese. Serve at 14–16°C (57–61°F) to highlight its aromatic complexity and silky texture. Younger bottles will benefit from a light 30–45 minute decant to open the bouquet, while more developed bottles can simply be poured and enjoyed.

Producer
Alain Jeanniard is a small but highly regarded grower based in Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits, known for producing artisanal, terroir-driven wines with a strong sense of place. Working primarily with Pinot Noir from prestigious appellations such as Chambolle-Musigny, the domaine focuses on meticulous vineyard work and traditional cellar practices to craft wines of precision and elegance. In a region where scale can easily overshadow individuality, Jeanniard has built a reputation among Burgundy enthusiasts for authenticity, consistency, and wines that speak clearly of their origin, making each bottling a thoughtful reflection of both the grower’s hand and the vintage.
