Description
Alain Geoffroy Chablis 1er Cru Beauroy 2023 is a refined expression of Premier Cru Chablis, shaped by pure Chardonnay and the region’s signature mineral-driven style. Produced by one of Chablis’ historic estates, founded in 1850, it reflects a long-standing commitment to terroir, tradition, and craftsmanship.
Tasting Notes
Pale, bright, and crystal-clear in the glass, this wine opens with an elegant floral bouquet and the classic freshness Chablis lovers look for. The nose is lifted and precise, while the palate brings a generous blend of fruit, tension, and a distinct mineral edge, creating both richness and vibrancy.
Thanks to its Premier Cru origin and fine lees ageing, the wine shows impressive depth and aromatic complexity. It is enjoyable now for its freshness and balance, but it also has the structure to develop additional nuance over the next few years.
Production
The Beauroy vineyard lies between the villages of Beine and La Chapelle-Vaupelteigne in Burgundy, on limestone marl and Kimmeridgian soils rich in oyster fossils. These porous, mineral soils encourage deep root growth and are key to the wine’s signature salinity and aromatic concentration. After pressing, the juice rests in stainless steel tanks for 24 hours before alcoholic fermentation, followed by malolactic fermentation and several months of ageing on fine lees to build texture and complexity.
Food & Serving
This Premier Cru Chablis pairs beautifully with shellfish, oysters, sushi, grilled fish, and delicate poultry dishes, as well as creamy goat cheese. Serve chilled at around 10-12°C. Decanting is not necessary, but allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass can help it open up.
Producer
Alain Geoffroy is a historic Chablis estate established in 1850 and deeply identified with the appellation. The family has long been recognized for its respect for tradition and terroir, and was among the pioneers of the Chablis Appellation d’Origine Contrôlée. The domaine is also notable for its on-site museum, which houses more than 8,000 instruments collected by previous generations from around the world.
