Description
Agnès Gleizes Chablis 1er Cru Vaillons 2023 is a precise, mineral-driven Chardonnay from one of Chablis’ most admired Premier Cru sites. Vaillons is prized for its southeast-facing slopes and Kimmeridgian limestone soils, giving the wine its signature tension, freshness, and refined Chablis character.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright straw-yellow hue. The nose opens with crisp lemon, grapefruit, and white blossom, rounded out by a subtle flinty note that speaks to its Chablis terroir.
The palate is lively and beautifully balanced, with a pronounced acidity carrying flavors of green apple, pear, and a gentle saline minerality. The finish is long, clean, and refreshing. While it is already expressive in its youth, this Premier Cru Chablis should also develop added complexity over the next several years.
Production
Made entirely from Chardonnay grown in the Vaillons Premier Cru vineyard, the wine reflects the area’s cool climate and Kimmeridgian soils rich in fossilized limestone and marine deposits. The southeast exposure helps the grapes achieve optimal ripeness while preserving freshness and aromatic clarity. Vinification is focused on preserving purity and terroir expression, resulting in a wine that highlights precision, minerality, and elegance.
Food & Serving
Ideal with oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, and mild creamy cheeses. Serve well chilled, around 10–12°C, to best showcase its freshness and mineral drive. Decanting is generally not necessary, though a short period in the glass can help the wine раскры its aromatics.
Producer
Agnès Gleizes is associated with elegant, terroir-focused wines from Chablis, where site expression and purity are central to the style. With this Premier Cru Vaillons, the producer demonstrates a strong command of classic Chablis character: bright acidity, chalky minerality, and refined balance. The wine stands as a fine example of the quality and distinction found in Chablis’ top vineyard sites.
