Aalto PS 2023

Aalto PS 2023 is the estate’s most powerful and selective expression of Tempranillo, crafted from the best parcels and the oldest vines in Ribera del Duero. PS stands for Pagos Seleccionados, and this bottling captures the concentration, depth, and precision that have made Aalto one of Spain’s most respected modern wineries.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, Aalto PS 2023 is deep, dark, and intensely colored, hinting at its concentration from the first pour. The nose is layered with blackcurrant, black cherry, and plum, followed by notes of cocoa, espresso, tobacco, and graphite. On the palate, it feels rich and almost creamy, yet firmly composed, with vivid acidity and fine, tightly knit tannins that keep everything in balance. The finish is long and persistent, and the wine has the structure and concentration to age beautifully for 15+ years, developing even greater complexity with time.

Production
The grapes come from very old Tempranillo vines, some 80 to 100 years of age, in Castilla y León, where the low yields and demanding conditions produce fruit of exceptional intensity. After strict hand selection, the wine is aged for around 20 months in new French oak barrels, adding structure, spice, and complexity while preserving the purity of the fruit.

Food & Serving
This is a wine built for serious food, especially grilled lamb, slow-braised beef, venison, game dishes, and rich stews. It also pairs well with aged Manchego and other mature hard cheeses. Serve at 16–18°C, and consider decanting for 1–2 hours to allow the wine to open fully.
