Aalto 2023 Magnum

Aalto 2023 Magnum is a powerful yet beautifully composed Ribera del Duero red, made from 100% Tempranillo and crafted with the precision that has made Aalto one of Spain’s most respected names. Founded by Mariano García, the legendary former winemaker at Vega Sicilia, the estate has become known for combining depth, finesse, and exceptional balance in a style that reflects the seriousness of Castilla y León’s finest wines.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, the wine shows a dark, concentrated core with classic aromas of black cherry, plum, and blackberry, lifted by notes of spice, coffee, liquorice, and subtle oak. Despite its richness and full body, the wine retains a cool, fresh line that keeps everything in focus and gives it remarkable poise. The palate is plush and layered, with silk-like tannins, ripe dark fruit, and a long, precise finish that feels both powerful and harmonious. It is already impressive now, but it has the structure and balance to age gracefully for 8–12 years.

Production
The grapes come from 40–80-year-old Tinto Fino vines in Castilla y León, with fruit harvested by hand and rigorously sorted before vinification. The 2023 vintage benefited from a season that combined warm periods with cooler spells, helping preserve freshness alongside intensity. The wine was aged for around 17 months in French and American oak barrels, adding complexity without overshadowing the fruit.

Food & Serving
Serve this wine with rich dishes such as grilled ribeye, roast lamb, braised short ribs, or mature Manchego. It also works beautifully with game and hearty mushroom-based dishes. For the best expression, serve at 16–18°C and decant for 1–2 hours if drinking now.
