Aalto 2022 Magnum

Aalto 2022 Magnum is a bold, modern expression of Tempranillo from Ribera del Duero, showcasing the depth, concentration, and finesse that have made Aalto one of Spain’s most admired names. Crafted from a selection of older vines on rented plots and younger vines from the estate’s own vineyards, it combines power with remarkable balance and polish.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a deep, dark color that immediately signals richness and intensity. The nose is layered and expressive, with ripe black fruit leading the way, followed by spices and subtle oak nuances that add complexity without overpowering the wine. On the palate, it is concentrated yet well balanced, with flavors of dark berries, licorice, roasted coffee, tobacco, and vanilla. The structure is impressive, giving the wine both immediate appeal and excellent aging potential over the coming years.

Production
The fruit comes from 40- to 80-year-old vines on leased vineyards in Ribera del Duero, as well as younger vines from Aalto’s own sites in Valladolid. Harvesting is done entirely by hand, with only the best grapes selected for vinification. The wine then spends 16 months aging in a combination of new and used French and American oak barrels, adding complexity, texture, and finesse.

Aalto 2022 Magnum pairs beautifully with red meat, grilled game, and rich, flavorful dishes that can match its depth and structure. Serve at 16–18°C, and decanting is recommended to help the wine open up and show its full aromatic range.
