Description

Domaine Nicolas Millet’s Sancerre Les Grands Champs 2023 is a refined Loire Valley white made from the appellation’s signature Sauvignon Blanc. Produced by a family whose roots in Bué reach back to the 18th century, it combines classic Sancerre freshness with the clarity and precision associated with the estate’s modern approach.

Tasting Notes
Bright and pale in appearance, this Sancerre offers an expressive nose of citrus, white flowers and freshly cut herbs, with the mineral character typical of the Loire. On the palate, it is crisp and focused, showing flavours of lemon, green apple and ripe orchard fruit, balanced by lively acidity and a clean, refreshing finish. The wine is best enjoyed in its youth for its vibrant freshness, but its structure and 10 months of maturation allow it to develop additional texture and complexity over the next few years when properly stored.

Production
The wine is produced in Bué, in the southern part of the Sancerre appellation, from Sauvignon Blanc grown on the estate’s vineyard holdings. The grapes undergo a slow pneumatic pressing, helping to preserve delicate aromas and freshness. Fermentation and maturation take place in stainless-steel tanks for 10 months, resulting in a precise, pure expression of the variety and appellation.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its bright acidity makes it an excellent match for oysters, shellfish, grilled fish, goat’s cheese, sushi and fresh salads, while its texture also complements poultry and light cream-based dishes. Decanting is not normally necessary, although opening the bottle 15–20 minutes before serving can allow the aromas to unfold.

Producer
Domaine Nicolas Millet was founded by the Millet family in the 1700s and is based in Bué, one of the southern villages of Sancerre. Nicolas Millet, the ninth generation of the family, began working at the domaine in 2008. The estate now covers 14.88 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc for Sancerre Blanc, alongside 4.37 hectares of Pinot Noir for Sancerre Rouge and Rosé, making it a longstanding and representative producer in the region.
