Description

Domaine Nicolas Millet’s Sancerre Le Crot à l’Âne Rosé 2023 is an elegant expression of Pinot Noir from Bué, in the southern part of the Sancerre appellation. Refined and mineral-driven, it combines delicate red-fruit character with the freshness and precision associated with the region. The Millet family has cultivated vines here since the 18th century, making this a wine rooted in a long local tradition.

Tasting Notes
Pale and delicate in colour, this rosé offers refined aromas of red berries alongside subtle floral notes. On the palate, it is fresh, mineral and elegant, with lively acidity and a beautifully persistent finish. Its balance and freshness make it especially appealing in its youth, while careful storage should allow it to develop gracefully over the next few years.

Production
The wine is produced from Pinot Noir grown around Bué, in the southern Sancerre area, where the domaine farms 4.37 hectares dedicated to Sancerre Rouge and Rosé. The grapes undergo gentle, slow pressing in a pneumatic press to preserve their freshness and finesse. Fermentation and maturation take place in stainless-steel tanks, with the wine resting on its fine lees for four to six months before bottling.

Food & Serving
Serve well chilled at approximately 8–10°C. Its bright acidity and delicate red-fruit profile make it a versatile partner for grilled fish, seafood, fresh salads, sushi, charcuterie and lighter poultry dishes. It is also excellent with goat’s cheese, a classic pairing for wines from Sancerre. Decanting is not necessary; simply open shortly before serving to allow the aromas to unfold.

Producer
Domaine Nicolas Millet was founded by the Millet family in the 18th century and is based in Bué, one of the southern villages of the Sancerre appellation. In 2008, Nicolas Millet, the family’s ninth generation, began working at the domaine. Today, the estate encompasses 14.88 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc for Sancerre Blanc and 4.37 hectares of Pinot Noir for Sancerre Rouge and Rosé, combining a strong regional heritage with a focused, modern approach to winemaking.
