The 2023 Monte Nostrum Riesling trocken from Robert Weil is a striking single-vineyard Rheingau Riesling that captures the cool, elevated side of Kiedrich with remarkable precision. Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, refined appearance and immediately suggests freshness and clarity. The nose opens with citrus, white peach and crisp apple, layered with floral tones, herbs and a distinct cool-stone minerality. On the palate, the wine is taut yet silky, with laser-sharp acidity, saline energy and a focused, elegant structure. Its finish is long, precise and vibrant, and while it is already very expressive, the underlying balance and concentration give it excellent ageing potential over the next several years, likely developing greater complexity and nuance with time.

Production
Monte Nostrum comes from the highest and coolest parcels of the Kiedricher Berg, where phyllite slate soils and proximity to the forest create a distinctive cool-climate terroir. The grapes are harvested selectively by hand in multiple passes to ensure optimal ripeness and purity, then spontaneously fermented and matured for 12–18 months in Doppelstück barrels, allowing the wine to gain texture and depth while preserving its strong sense of place.

Food & Serving
This Riesling is an excellent match for stone flounder, scallops, veal fillet, and refined Asian dishes where freshness and subtle spice matter. It also pairs beautifully with goat cheese. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally unnecessary, though a brief airing can help the wine open up if served young.
