Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, luminous color and an inviting aromatic profile of peach, apricot, and pineapple, lifted by citrus, honey blossom, and a subtle slate spice. On the palate, it is juicy, clear, and elegant, with refined sweetness balanced by vibrant acidity; the result is a wine of depth, purity, and tension. The structure is delicate yet persistent, finishing long, mineral, and precise. While beautifully enjoyable in its youth for its fruit and freshness, this Spätlese has excellent aging potential and should gain complexity and nuance over many years in bottle.

Production
The Abtsberg vineyard is one of the crown jewels of Maximin Grünhaus, defined by steep Devonian slate slopes that lend the wine its signature mineral drive and elegance. Grapes were selectively harvested by hand in multiple passes from fully ripe parcels, allowing only the best fruit to be used. Fermentation took place spontaneously with native yeasts in traditional Fuder casks and stainless steel, followed by maturation without fining to preserve fruit intensity, sweetness, and terroir expression.

Food & Serving
This Spätlese pairs beautifully with poultry, foie gras, and aromatic Asian dishes, where its sweetness and freshness can complement rich or spicy flavors. It also works well with desserts and aged soft cheeses. Serve chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally unnecessary unless you wish to open the wine up for a fuller aromatic expression.
