2022 Zenato Lugana Sergio Riserva

Zenato Lugana Sergio Riserva 2022 is a refined, age-worthy expression of Lugana, crafted from the local Turbiana grape grown near the southern shores of Lake Garda. Named in honour of Zenato founder Sergio Zenato, it combines the region’s characteristic freshness with greater depth, texture and complexity from extended maturation.

Tasting Notes
Bright straw yellow in appearance, with a polished, luminous character. The nose reveals ripe citrus, white peach and pear alongside floral nuances, subtle almond and delicate mineral notes. On the palate, it is full yet beautifully balanced, offering flavours of lemon zest, yellow fruit and stone fruit supported by lively acidity and a gently creamy texture. A long, saline finish adds further freshness and precision. The 2022 vintage can be enjoyed now for its expressive fruit and vibrancy, but it also has the structure to develop gracefully over the next several years. With age, expect more pronounced mineral, almond and honeyed nuances.

Production
The wine is made from Turbiana, the indigenous grape of Lugana, cultivated in the area around San Benedetto di Lugana on the southern side of Lake Garda. The local clay-rich soils and the moderating influence of the lake help preserve acidity while encouraging ripe, concentrated fruit. Grapes are carefully harvested at optimal maturity, gently pressed and fermented under controlled conditions before maturation in oak, followed by further bottle ageing. This approach gives the wine added body and complexity while retaining the freshness that defines Lugana.

Food & Serving
A versatile match for seafood, shellfish, grilled lake fish, sushi and delicate pasta dishes with cream or herb-based sauces. It also pairs well with roast poultry, fresh goat’s cheese and lightly seasoned white meats. Serve chilled at approximately 10–12°C. Decanting is not essential, although allowing the wine to breathe in a large glass for 15–20 minutes can reveal additional texture and aromatic depth.
