The 2022 Rüdesheim Estate Riesling trocken from Weingut Breuer is a classic Rheingau Ortswein that captures the precision, freshness and mineral depth of Rüdesheim’s steep hillside vineyards. Made from fruit grown in some of the area’s most respected sites, it reflects the estate’s long-standing focus on elegant, terroir-driven Riesling.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, youthful Riesling profile with vibrant clarity and an elegant, finely drawn structure. Expect aromas of citrus, green apple and white peach, lifted by a subtle slate-like spice and a distinctly mineral edge. On the palate, the wine is taut, lively and very precise, with fresh acidity and a saline, stony finish that gives it excellent energy. It already drinks beautifully now for its purity and balance, while also having the concentration and structure to develop nicely over the next few years.

Production
The wine comes from the classic steep slopes around Rüdesheim, including Berg Rottland, Roseneck and Schlossberg, where schist and quartzite soils shape the wine’s mineral tension and clear structure. The cool microclimate allows for slow, even ripening and aromatic precision. The grapes were hand-harvested and spontaneously fermented, with ageing in stainless steel and partly in large wooden casks, followed by extended lees contact. The result is a pure, restrained style that stays close to its origin and emphasizes freshness, texture and site expression.

Food & Serving
This Riesling is a natural partner for fish, shellfish and poultry, and it also works very well with light starters or Asian dishes with a touch of spice. Serve chilled at around 8–10°C to highlight its freshness and mineral drive. Decanting is not necessary, though a short time in the glass will help the aromas open up.
