The 2022 Rüdesheim Berg Roseneck Riesling trocken from Weingut Alexander Schregel is a site-driven Rheingau Riesling with striking mineral precision and cool-climate tension. Sourced from one of the region’s steepest and most celebrated slopes, it combines elegance, structure, and the unmistakable character of a great single-vineyard wine.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, pale straw hue. The nose opens with citrus, lime, and fresh herbal notes, layered over a distinctly stony, slate-like minerality. On the palate, it is taut, saline, and highly precise, with fine grip and lively acidity driving a long, crystalline finish. This is a Riesling with excellent aging potential. While it already offers impressive balance and clarity, the concentration and structure from the 2022 vintage suggest it will gain added complexity and depth over the next several years.

Production
The Berg Roseneck is a steep Rüdesheim vineyard site in the Rheingau, shaped by schist and quartzite soils and a cool, wind-exposed microclimate. Grapes are selectively harvested by hand, then spontaneously fermented and aged with minimal intervention in stainless steel and partly in wood, with extended lees contact to build texture and nuance.

Food & Serving
A versatile food wine, this Riesling is a natural match for sushi, sashimi, and grilled pike perch with lemon butter. It also pairs beautifully with herb-roasted poultry, goat’s cheese, or vegetarian dishes featuring fennel and citrus. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C; decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration can help if opened young.
