Cuvée Weiss 2022 by Esra & Thorben is a modern Rheinhessen white that brings together Kerner, Silvaner, Scheurebe and Riesling in a crisp, characterful blend. Grown in Bechtolsheim on limestone- and loess-rich soils, it reflects the new generation of hands-on, low-intervention winemaking in one of Germany’s most dynamic wine regions.

Tasting Notes
Pale straw in the glass, this wine opens with bright aromas of lime, green apple and delicate floral notes, lifted by a subtle touch of lees spice. On the palate it is juicy, precise and structured, with fine tannin, lively acidity and a clean, mineral finish that keeps the wine feeling fresh and focused. The 10 months on full lees add texture and depth without weighing it down, giving the wine a more layered mouthfeel and a quietly savory edge. Enjoy it now for its energy and clarity, or cellar it for a short period if you’d like the aromatics and texture to integrate further.

Production
The grapes were hand-harvested in Bechtolsheim, where calcareous and loess soils help shape the wine’s tension, freshness and mineral profile. Esra Flick and Thorben Maurer work with a modern, artisanal approach, fermenting the blend spontaneously and maturing it for around 10 months on the full lees before bottling unfined and unfiltered to preserve its natural character.

Food & Serving
This is a versatile food wine, ideal with light summer dishes, sushi, seafood and Mediterranean starters, as well as vegetable-driven plates and herb-focused cuisine. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C; decanting is not necessary, though a little air can help the wine open up if served very young.
