The 2021 Monte Vacano Riesling trocken from Robert Weil is a rare, site-driven Rheingau Riesling from one of the estate’s most iconic parcels. Sourced from a tiny 0.5-hectare plot in the Kiedricher Berg, it combines old vines, ultra-low yields, and meticulous craftsmanship into a wine of remarkable precision and depth.

Tasting Notes
Pale straw in the glass, the wine shows a finely etched and elegant profile. The nose opens with citrus, orange blossom, and white tea, layered with herbs, smoke, and subtle spice. On the palate it is tight, powerful, and highly focused, delivering grapefruit, passion fruit, and a distinct salty minerality. Dense yet poised, it finishes long, calm, and full of tension. This is a Riesling built for the cellar and should evolve beautifully over many years.

Production
Monte Vacano comes from a minuscule 0.5-hectare parcel in the Kiedricher Berg, shaped by phyllite slate and very steep slopes. The old vines and extremely low yields contribute to the wine’s concentration and individuality. Harvesting is done by strict selective hand-picking in several passes, followed by fermentation and aging in 1,200-liter traditional Taunus oak casks, with extended lees contact adding texture, complexity, and depth.

Food & Serving
A superb match for turbot, veal filet, and scallops, as well as mature cheeses. Serve chilled at around 10–12°C to best show its precision and mineral drive. Decanting is not essential, but a short aeration can help release its aromatic complexity in youth.
