Tasting Notes
Deep ruby in the glass, the wine opens with aromas of black cherry, plum, and blackberry, layered with toasted spice, graphite, and dark chocolate. On the palate it is powerful yet refined, with a silky texture, dense structure, bright acidity, and a mineral core that gives the wine impressive tension and length. The finish is long, elegant, and persistent, with fine oak integration and a sense of precision that suggests excellent aging potential. While already expressive, Torre Muga 2020 should continue to develop beautifully over the next decade or more, gaining even greater complexity and harmony.

Production
The grapes come from Rioja Alta, where calcareous clay and alluvial soils contribute freshness, depth, and a distinct mineral character. Fruit is harvested by hand, then spontaneously fermented in wooden vats, followed by a 2–3 week maceration and malolactic fermentation in new French oak barrels. The wine then matures for 16–18 months in barrique before additional bottle aging, with traditional cellar methods such as gravity racking and egg fining preserving its artisanal style.

Food & Serving
Serve this wine with lamb, beef, Iberico pork, game, mushroom ragout, or mature hard cheeses. It is best enjoyed at around 16–18°C, and decanting for 1–2 hours is recommended if opened young to help the aromas and texture fully open up.
