Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a pale, luminous character that hints at both delicacy and concentration. The nose opens with citrus, green apple, and white peach, layered with floral notes and a cool slate-driven spice that reflects its origin in the Saar. On the palate, it is light-footed yet impressively energetic, with vibrant acidity and beautifully judged residual sweetness in perfect balance. The finish is long, mineral, and saline, leaving a refined impression that suggests excellent ageing potential over many years, where it will gain further depth and complexity.

Production
This wine comes from the legendary Scharzhofberg vineyard near Wiltingen, where Devonian slate soils and a cool microclimate create ideal conditions for precise, finely etched Riesling. Traditional vinification in Mosel fuders, spontaneous fermentation, and extended lees contact help preserve the wine’s clarity of site and its graceful, understated style.

Food & Serving
A superb match for Asian cuisine, sushi, ceviche, and delicate fish dishes, as well as goat’s cheese and herb-led vegetarian plates. Serve chilled, ideally around 8–10°C, and decanting is generally not necessary, though a short aeration can be beneficial if the wine is tasted very young.
