2018 Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico

The 2018 Quintarelli Valpolicella Classico Superiore is a distinguished expression of one of Italy’s most revered traditional wine estates. Made from a complex blend of Corvina, Corvinone, Rondinella and indigenous varieties alongside Cabernet Sauvignon and Nebbiolo, it combines the elegance of Valpolicella with remarkable depth and cellar potential.

Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright ruby colour with garnet reflections. The nose is characteristically layered, offering ripe and dried red cherries, wild berries, violets and dried flowers, followed by hints of herbs, leather, tobacco and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is refined and energetic, balancing generous fruit with fresh acidity and well-integrated tannins. Notes of sour cherry, plum, balsamic herbs, cocoa and gentle spice develop through a long, savoury finish. It is approachable with decanting, but has the structure and complexity to mature gracefully for many years.

Production
Produced in the Valpolicella Classico area, where hillside vineyards, limestone-rich soils and a moderate climate provide both ripeness and freshness, this wine reflects Quintarelli’s traditional approach. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand, then fermented with native yeasts before extended maturation in large Slavonian oak casks. The multi-varietal blend and lengthy élevage give the wine its characteristic balance, depth and ability to evolve in bottle.

Food & Serving
Serve at 16–18°C after allowing the wine to breathe. Decant for approximately one to two hours when opening it young, both to soften the tannins and to reveal its aromatic layers. Its savoury structure pairs beautifully with braised beef, roast game, osso buco, mushroom dishes, aged Parmigiano Reggiano and mature mountain cheeses.
