2018 L’Artiste Brut from Schloss Vaux is a polished Rheingau sparkling wine that combines classic bottle fermentation with refined elegance and impressive precision. Tasting Notes
In the glass, it shows a bright, lively profile with delicate effervescence and a clean, inviting appearance. The nose opens with citrus, green apple, and white flowers, layered with subtle brioche and yeast notes that add complexity and a traditional sparkling-wine character. On the palate, it is crisp, precise, and elegant, with vibrant acidity and a fine perlage that gives the wine lift and finesse. A mineral backbone brings tension and length, while the ripe 2018 fruit adds balance and a more rounded, approachable feel. It is drinking beautifully now and should hold well for a few more years.

Production
Sourced from the Rheingau, this Lagenwein reflects one of Germany’s strongest terroirs for high-quality sparkling wine, where warm, sunny conditions in 2018 helped produce ripe and aromatic base wines. The grapes were selectively hand-harvested and vinified using the Méthode traditionnelle, followed by several years of maturation on the lees to build texture, depth, and a refined mousse.

Food & Serving
This is an excellent aperitif, but it also works beautifully with shellfish, seafood, light fish dishes, and refined starters. Serve chilled at around 6–8°C to preserve freshness and finesse; decanting is not necessary, though a few minutes in the glass will help the aromas open up.
