Tasting Notes
Deep, opaque ruby at its core, this vintage port shows inviting complexity as it opens in the glass. The nose is layered with blackberry, cassis, ripe plum, dark chocolate, cigar box, dried fig, and subtle balsamic tones, gradually gaining notes of leather, mocha, and nuts with air. On the palate it is rich and commanding, yet beautifully balanced by fresh acidity and fully integrated sweetness. The tannins are mature but still give structure, carrying the wine through a long, complex finish. Already impressive now, it should continue to hold and evolve gracefully for many more years.

Production
Sourced from steep terraced vineyards in the Douro Valley, Quinta do Vesuvio benefits from schist-rich soils, intense sun, and low yields that naturally concentrate flavor. The grapes are traditionally harvested and partially foot-trodden in historic granite lagares, a method that helps preserve color, texture, and aromatic intensity. After fermentation, the wine is fortified with grape spirit to retain its natural sweetness, then aged in barrel before extended bottle maturation builds depth and complexity over decades. The result is a vintage port of exceptional structure, concentration, and longevity.

Food & Serving
Excellent with Stilton and other blue cheeses, dark chocolate desserts, or cocoa-based pastries. It also works beautifully as a contemplative after-dinner wine on its own. Serve slightly cool, ideally around 16–18°C, and decant if sediment is present; older bottles may only need a gentle decant shortly before serving.
