In the glass, the wine shows a mature ruby core with subtle brick-toned edges. The nose is layered with blackcurrant, dried plum, cedar, tobacco, leather, and a touch of graphite, unfolding with time in the glass. On the palate, it is composed and harmonious, with fully integrated tannins, balanced acidity, and a savory, spice-tinged finish. The fruit is now in a graceful stage of evolution, and while it remains enjoyable today, its best years are likely centered around mature-drinking pleasure rather than further long-term cellaring.

Château Chasse-Spleen’s vineyards in Moulis-en-Médoc sit on deep gravel soils with a sandy-clay subsoil, an ideal terroir for classic Bordeaux varieties. The grapes were hand-harvested and fermented under temperature control before maturation in French oak barriques, allowing the wine’s structure and tannins to integrate steadily over time.
