Domaine de la Vougeraie is one of Burgundy's benchmark biodynamic estates, born in 1999 when the Boisset family drew their finest Côte d'Or parcels together under a single roof. Expect pure, terroir-driven Pinot Noir reds and Chardonnay whites, spanning village wines and some of the Côte's most coveted Grands Crus.
A young estate built on old Burgundy vineyards
Though the name dates only to 1999, the vines behind it were gathered over half a century, starting with a plot near Gevrey-Chambertin in 1964. Today the domaine farms around 37 hectares across nearly thirty appellations, spread across the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune. Everything is worked organically and biodynamically, with Demeter certification and horses still ploughing the steeper slopes, which makes this the largest biodynamic grower on the Côte d'Or. If you are new to the region, our wider Burgundy selection is the place to start.
Elegant Pinot Noir and a rare white monopole
The house style favours precision and lift over sheer weight. The reds are all Pinot Noir, taking in supple Bonnes Mares, old-vine Charmes-Chambertin Les Mazoyères and the grand Clos de Vougeot. The whites are Chardonnay, crowned by Corton-Charlemagne and the walled Clos Blanc de Vougeot, a monopole that makes the only white wine grown inside Vougeot itself. Domaine de la Vougeraie FAQ
What makes Domaine de la Vougeraie special?
It combines rare vineyard holdings, including four monopoles and several Grands Crus, with rigorous biodynamic farming. Few estates offer this breadth of top Côte d'Or sites under one label.
What is the Clos Blanc de Vougeot?
A walled Premier Cru monopole owned by the domaine. It is the only white wine made from within the Vougeot appellation, a taut, mineral Chardonnay with genuine ageing potential.
Should I cellar these wines?
The village whites and lighter reds drink beautifully young. The Premier and Grand Cru bottlings reward patience, often improving for a decade or more from a strong vintage.
