Description
Gevrey-Chambertin from Domaine de la Vougeraie is a confident, terroir-driven Pinot Noir that captures one of Burgundy’s most celebrated villages in a magnum format, ideal for cellaring and special occasions. The 2023 vintage promises freshness, precision and depth, with the domaine’s hallmark focus on purity and elegant structure.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, expect a bright ruby-red colour with youthful clarity and concentration. The nose typically opens with aromas of red cherry, wild strawberry, raspberry, and subtle floral and earthy notes, alongside hints of spice, undergrowth and fine oak influence.
On the palate, Gevrey-Chambertin is known for its refined but powerful profile: supple red fruit, firm yet polished tannins, lively acidity and a savoury mineral edge that adds length and complexity. The magnum format is especially suited to Burgundy, allowing the wine to develop slowly and harmoniously over time. This wine should age beautifully for 8–15 years, and potentially longer in a well-kept cellar.
Production
Produced in Gevrey-Chambertin, one of the Côte de Nuits’ most renowned villages, this wine reflects classic Burgundian terroir with limestone- and clay-rich soils that lend structure, perfume and finesse. Domaine de la Vougeraie is known for its careful vineyard work and sustainable, biodynamic-minded farming, with hand-harvesting used to preserve fruit integrity and select the best grapes.
Vinification is typically carried out with an emphasis on gentle extraction and respect for site expression, followed by maturation in French oak barrels to build texture without overwhelming the wine’s natural balance. The result is a Pinot Noir that combines precision, depth and a clear sense of origin.
Food & Serving
This Gevrey-Chambertin pairs beautifully with roast duck, pheasant, game birds, lamb, mushroom dishes and slow-cooked beef. It also works well with earthy vegetarian plates such as wild mushroom risotto or truffle pasta. Serve at 16–18°C and, while a young bottle may benefit from 30–60 minutes of decanting, a magnum can often be opened slightly earlier to let the aromatics unfold gradually.

Its wines are widely appreciated for their balance, authenticity and clear Burgundian identity.
