A Canadian partnership rooted in Nuits-Saint-Georges
Pascal Marchand came from Quebec and made his name at Domaine du Comte Armand and Domaine de la Vougeraie before setting up on his own. Moray Tawse, who owns a respected winery back in Canada, brought the means to buy the historic Maume cellars in Gevrey-Chambertin. Together they run two things at once: a négociant house buying hand-picked fruit from trusted growers, and a small, biodynamically farmed estate, Domaine Tawse. The result is a coherent view of Burgundy, taking in both the Côte de Nuits and the Côte de Beaune.
Pinot Noir and Chardonnay across the Côte d'Or
The reds here are Pinot Noir and the whites Chardonnay, farmed organically and biodynamically, hand-picked, and made with a generous share of whole bunches and a gentle élevage in tank and mostly older oak. That light touch keeps the fruit and the vineyard in front. The range takes in villages such as Marsannay, Gevrey-Chambertin, Chambolle-Musigny and Nuits-Saint-Georges, then climbs to Premier and Grand Cru.
