Description
Nani Rizzi Prosecco Superiore Valdobbiadene Extra Dry DOCG is a refined expression of Italy’s most celebrated sparkling wine region. Crafted from Glera with a touch of local Perera, it offers a delicate balance of fruitiness, freshness, and fine mousse that feels effortlessly elegant in the glass. Coming from the prestigious Conegliano-Valdobbiadene hills and carrying the coveted DOCG designation, this Prosecco stands out for its quality, typicity, and sense of place.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this Prosecco Superiore shows a bright, pale straw-yellow color with a fine and persistent perlage that forms a soft, creamy crown at the surface. On the nose, it opens with fragrant notes of white flowers, acacia blossom, and fresh green apple, followed by pear, citrus zest, and a subtle hint of stone fruit. Gentle herbal and mineral touches add lift and complexity.
On the palate, it is vibrant yet smooth, with the Extra Dry dosage offering a delicate touch of sweetness that is beautifully counterbalanced by crisp acidity. Flavors of ripe pear, golden apple, and white peach intermingle with lemon and a light, saline-mineral edge from the Valdobbiadene terroir. The mousse is fine and caressing, leading to a clean, refreshing finish that invites another sip. Best enjoyed in its youth for maximum freshness and aromatic intensity, though it will hold well for a couple of years under good cellaring conditions.
Production
This Prosecco Superiore comes from the steep, sun-soaked hills of Valdobbiadene in the Conegliano-Valdobbiadene DOCG, an area known for its poor, well-drained soils and significant day-night temperature swings that preserve acidity and aromatic finesse. The Glera and Perera grapes are typically harvested by hand to ensure gentle selection on the slopes where mechanization is difficult. After a soft pressing, the base wine undergoes fermentation in temperature-controlled stainless steel to safeguard delicate floral and fruity aromas. The second fermentation takes place using the Charmat-Martinotti method in pressurized tanks, where fine, persistent bubbles are developed before the wine is gently filtered and bottled under pressure to retain its freshness and lively sparkle.
Food & Serving
Nani Rizzi Prosecco Superiore Extra Dry is a natural choice as an aperitif and pairs beautifully with light, fresh dishes. Try it alongside seafood canapés, shrimp cocktail, sushi, or ceviche, as well as classic Italian antipasti featuring prosciutto, mild cheeses, and marinated vegetables. It also works well with lightly spiced Asian cuisine, tempura, and delicate vegetable dishes. Serve well chilled at around 6–8°C (43–46°F) in a tulip-shaped sparkling wine glass to concentrate the aromas and enhance the mousse. Decanting is not recommended; simply chill, open gently, and enjoy immediately for the brightest expression of its aromatics.
