Tasting Notes
In the glass, Giusto di Notri 2022 shows a deep, vibrant ruby color with youthful purple reflections, hinting at its concentration and energy. The nose is intense and layered, offering notes of ripe blackcurrant, blackberry and dark cherry, wrapped in aromas of graphite, cedar, fresh tobacco leaf and Mediterranean herbs, with subtle touches of violet and sweet spice. On the palate, the wine is full-bodied and finely structured, with ripe yet firmly grained tannins and a core of dark, juicy fruit. Flavors of cassis, black plum and mulberry are lifted by hints of licorice, cocoa and a delicate mineral edge from the coastal terroir. Giusto di Notri is sourced from estate vineyards in the Suvereto area of coastal Tuscany, where warm days, cooling sea breezes and mineral-rich soils give the grapes both ripeness and freshness. The Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Merlot are harvested by hand, with careful selection in the vineyard and at the winery to ensure only perfectly mature, healthy clusters are used. Vinification typically involves temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel or small vats, promoting pure fruit expression and precise extraction, followed by aging in French oak barriques to refine the tannins, build structure and add subtle layers of spice and toast without overwhelming the character of the fruit or the terroir.
