Production
The vineyards of Pontet-Canet sit on the classic deep gravel soils of Pauillac, with gravel over limestone and clay providing excellent drainage and a natural stress that favors Cabernet Sauvignon of great aromatic intensity and structure. The estate is cultivated to rigorous biodynamic principles, with an emphasis on soil vitality, biodiversity and manual work in the vineyard; harvest is carried out by hand in small batches, parcel by parcel, to ensure optimal ripeness and careful selection of the grapes. In the cellar, the fruit is vinified with gentle extraction to capture purity and finesse rather than sheer power, and the wine is aged in a combination of French oak barrels and amphorae, which allows the character of the fruit and terroir to shine while adding texture and complexity without overwhelming oak influence.
