+ Read morePaul Bara Champagne Grand Cru Grand Rosé Brut is an elegant, terroir-driven rosé Champagne from one of the most respected grower-producers in the region. Crafted entirely from Grand Cru vineyards in the famed village of Bouzy, it offers depth, finesse and a distinctive sense of place. This cuvée showcases the house’s long-standing expertise with Pinot Noir–based Champagnes, delivering a rosé that is both gastronomic and beautifully refined.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, the Grand Rosé Brut shows a luminous salmon-pink hue with fine, persistent bubbles forming a delicate mousse. The color hints at its structure and intensity, while remaining graceful and inviting. On the nose, expect vivid aromas of wild strawberries, raspberries and redcurrants, layered with notes of rose petals, citrus zest and a subtle hint of brioche and spice from lees aging. The palate is lively and precise, with crunchy red berry fruit at the core, supported by a chalky mineral spine and a refined, creamy texture. Dry and well-balanced, the dosage is kept in check, allowing the freshness and salinity of Bouzy’s terroir to shine through. The finish is long, pure and mouthwatering, making it as suitable for the table as it is for an apéritif. Enjoy it now for its vibrant, expressive fruit, or cellar for 3–5 years to gain additional complexity and a more pronounced autolytic character.
Production
Sourced exclusively from Grand Cru vineyards around the historic village of Bouzy, this Champagne reflects the region’s prized south-facing slopes and chalk-rich soils, ideal for producing powerful yet refined Pinot Noir–driven wines. Grapes are harvested by hand to ensure optimal selection of bunches in the vineyard. The base wines are vinified in temperature-controlled tanks, with a judicious use of reserve wines to maintain the Paul Bara house style from year to year. The delicate rosé color and red-fruit character typically come from the careful addition of still red Bouzy wine or a brief maceration on the skins, followed by the traditional second fermentation in bottle and extended aging on the lees before disgorgement. The result is a Grand Cru rosé Champagne that harmoniously combines structure, fruit and elegance.
Food & Serving
Paul Bara Grand Cru Grand Rosé Brut is a superbly versatile food Champagne, pairing beautifully with dishes such as tuna tartare, salmon sashimi, grilled prawns, charcuterie, duck breast with berry glaze, or soft cheeses like Brillat-Savarin and young goat’s cheese. It also works wonderfully with summer salads featuring fresh berries or pomegranate. Serve well chilled at around 8–10°C (46–50°F) to highlight its freshness and aromatic precision. A brief 10–15 minutes in the glass or in a decanter designed for Champagne can help the wine open up, revealing more of its textural depth and complexity.
