In the glass, Giunco 2024 shows a pale straw-yellow hue with glints of green, bright and inviting. The nose is intensely aromatic yet refined, opening with notes of lemon zest, grapefruit and white peach, followed by hints of wild herbs, jasmine, and a subtle sea breeze salinity that clearly speaks of its island origin. On the palate, the wine is dry, lively and precise, with a juicy citrus core wrapped in a fine, saline minerality. Production
Cantina Mesa sources the Vermentino for Giunco from sun-exposed vineyards in the Sulcis area of southern Sardinia, where sandy and calcareous soils, constant light and cooling marine winds create ideal conditions for this aromatic white variety. The grapes are typically harvested in the cooler hours to preserve their natural acidity and delicate aromatics, then gently pressed. Fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks to lock in freshness and varietal purity, with the wine resting on its fine lees for a short period to build texture and complexity without sacrificing its crisp, seaside character.

Giunco 2024 is a natural match for seafood—think grilled prawns, oysters, ceviche, octopus salad or simply prepared white fish with lemon and herbs. It also pairs beautifully with sushi, fresh goat’s cheese, light pasta dishes (especially with clams or bottarga), and Mediterranean vegetable plates with fennel, artichoke or zucchini.
