This cuvée brings together two highly aromatic grape varieties to create a lively, floral wine that feels both playful and precise. Crafted by the fourth-generation family estate Weingut Gustavshof, it reflects the winery’s focus on purity, sustainability and expressive, terroir-driven wines.
Tasting Notes
In the glass, this wine typically shows a pale straw to light lemon-yellow color with a bright, almost shimmering clarity that hints at its freshness. On the nose, expect an exuberant bouquet: fragrant blossom, elderflower, fresh grape, and hints of citrus zest, often joined by subtle notes of exotic fruit and a touch of muscat spice. The palate is light to medium-bodied, with a charming interplay of juicy fruit and crisp acidity. Gelber Muskateller usually delivers floral, grapey notes and vibrant citrus, while Morio Muskat adds aromatic intensity and a gently spicy, musky character. The result is a dry (or off-dry, depending on the exact style) wine that feels refreshing rather than heavy, with a clean, aromatic finish that lingers on floral and citrus tones. Best enjoyed in its youth for maximum aromatic lift and freshness, it will drink beautifully over the next 2–3 years.
Production
The grapes for this wine come from Gustavshof’s biodynamically farmed vineyards in Rheinhessen, where limestone-rich soils and a mild, sunny climate help preserve aroma, finesse and vibrant acidity. The estate follows Demeter guidelines, working with living, biologically active soils, diverse cover crops and homemade compost preparations to strengthen the vines’ natural resilience and expression of place. Harvest is typically done with careful selection to ensure healthy, aromatic fruit, followed by gentle pressing in the cellar. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel or neutral vessels to protect the delicate, muscat-driven aromatics, with a focus on slow, temperature-controlled fermentation and minimal intervention, resulting in a clean, precise and terroir-reflective white wine.
Food & Serving
This aromatic white is a versatile partner at the table. It pairs beautifully with light, fragrant dishes such as Vietnamese or Thai salads, sushi, ceviche, fresh goat cheese, or lightly spiced poultry and vegetable dishes. It also works well with asparagus, herbed salads and mezze-style spreads. Serve well-chilled at around 8–10°C to highlight its freshness and perfume. Decanting is not necessary; simply open and pour, allowing the wine a few minutes in the glass to unfold its full aromatic spectrum.
Producer
Weingut Gustavshof is a family-run estate located about 30 kilometers south of Mainz, in the heart of Rheinhessen, with around 18 hectares of vineyards planted on predominantly calcareous soils. Over four generations, the family has built a reputation for honest, characterful wines that faithfully reflect their origin. Today, Gustavshof is certified biodynamic under Demeter and is seen as one of the committed pioneers of holistic, sustainable viticulture in the region. Their approach centers on a living vineyard ecosystem: species-rich cover crops, self-produced compost preparations and carefully integrated landscape elements like stone walls, shrubs and trees, all designed to foster biodiversity and soil vitality. This philosophy translates into wines that are not only environmentally responsible but also remarkably lively, complex and long-lived, making Gustavshof a respected name among Germany’s quality-focused, eco-conscious producers.
